Okay, Andy....here's the bet.  Breakfast at the 07 draft.  One of us
supplies the other.  The proposition is that Swisher will be more valuable
over the balance of the year than Peralta.  We may have to negotiate the
manner in which that is calculated, but I would propose 1 point per home
run, 1/3 point per rbi and run, 1/10 point per point of batting average and
1 point per stolen base.  That strikes me as about the right ratio.  What
say you, Professor?  Prepared to put your money where you mouth is?

Well ... he hasn't sucked the last couple of weeks.  He didn't suck last
year.  And he didn't suck the year before that in AAA.  None of which Nick
Swisher can say.

Anyway, I don't know if young Jhonny has "Greg Brady-like charm."  But he
will be a member of the Nine next year ... and a centerpiece as I battle
Doug and the Riptorns for the 2007 title!!

Professor,

I didn't manipulate the numbers.  MLB.com uses the last 10 days.  And
whether you look at the last 10 days, the last 14 days, the month of June or
the season, the guy still sucks.  I'd say you waited too long to move him.
But talk to Brad.  You just never know what he might be thinking.  PT/KR,
however, won't be fooled.

Interesting that Jeff the picked the "last 10 days" for his report.  On the
TQStats site, they report last 14 days.  Perlata's numbers ... .373-2-8.

As for Swisher's K/BB ratio, I hope Mark enjoys it.  Too bad it's not a stat
that counts in our league ...

Not to let facts get in the way of a good argument, but over the same last
10 days when Peralta, the player proclaimed to be one of the AL's hottest
hitters, has hit one home run and knocked in 4 runs, Nick Swisher has hit
two home runs and knocked in three, while scoring 7 runs.  Sure his average
has sucked, but everything else looks good to me.  And his K/BB ratio is
nearly 1-1.  BTW - Peralta, in the midst of this supposed hot streak, has
scored 8 runs and has a K/BB ratio of 2-1.
