[USML Announce] Daniel Cabrera - Uh Oh

Andy,

Alternate (i.e. secondary or tertiary) bids are handled by making a second/third transaction for the same player. If you are not successful in the first instance, it will drop down to the next attempt. If we want to use the automated system (and I think we should), we may have to discuss slight modifications to our complicated contingent bidding rules., since we deal with secondary bids as contingent, i.e. all primary bids have to be processed before a secondary bid is considered. In the vast majority of instances, this will sort itself out. But not necessarily, so we'll need to discuss. Also, the complicated bidding associated with spending the last few FAAB dollars will definitely have to be examined. My recommendation in that regard is that we just agree that you can't make FAAB bids in an amount greater than your remaining FAAB regardless of whether the bids are contingent.

The bottom line is that I think we should adapt our rules to All Star's system so that we can make this process as automated as possible. Its best for the commissioner (Mr. B) and its best for the league in that transactions will be processed immediately after the deadline.

Jeff

Thanks for getting things squared away. My roster is accurate.

Can we get a tutorial on how to do FAAB bidding? I see where you can make a bid. But I don't see any mechanism for contingencies (i.e., if I don't get A, I want B, etc.)

Regarding Cabrera, I listened to an interview with Denny McLain on the way into work today. He talked about pitching 300 innings a year and sometimes going on 2 days rest. Of course, he also talked about his regimen of cortisone shots, aspirin, Contac, and "greenies". I guess with a strong players' union and the amount of money someone can earn by hanging around a few extra years, it's understandable why things have changed.

I have adjusted your roster to reflect the Colon/Ramirez transaction.

Yes, as the owner of Cabrera my pleasure of seeing a good outing was quickly
tempered by the 122-pitch count-- even more amazing was that B-More was up 6-1
heading into the 8th, and Perlozzo or whoever their manager is sends him back
out there in 40 -degree weather. You would've thunk Lou Piniella was making the
decisions...
One roster note....I had submitted a roster change on Sunday via USMLtrans to
activate Horacio Ramirez at P in lieu of Bartolo Colon....I didn't notice that
lineup change on the updated AllStar site.....I was secretly hoping Seattle
would get all their games postponed this week so Ramirez wouldn't actually take
the mound, but done is done. Thanks.

Thanks for working with All Star Stats, but while you are there, you may
want to adjust your joke-meter to 2007 as well. You must have forgotten I
don't even own Cabrera this year!

It wasn't a joke. Its a prediction and a statement of amazement that any
manager would abuse a pitcher in that fashion.

Rosters are now entered. There are a number of players (high schoolers,
college players and Japanese players) that still need to be entered, but
otherwise rosters should be complete and accurate. Please check your rosters
and
let me know asap if you see any problems. Transactions for this last Sunday
were also entered. Those should be checked and confirmed as well.

Jeff
