Go to "Team Rosters" then "All Teams" and then "current." Still shows me as
unregistered.

Mark,

Just went to the website and see that both you and Jim are indicated to be
"registered". Where on the site does it show that you are Jim are
"unregistered?"

Point by point in response to below.

1 and 2. Rick is not having the same problem. When you pul up a list of
all of the teams, it shows all owners as unregistered other than you and
Rick.

3. If you go to <http://www.usml%20%20.net/> www.usml.net, where Rich has
the Constitution and other materials posted, you will see our official
league name. Its been that way for many years, including all of last year
where the name appeared on the CBS site.

4. Jeff, just so we are clear, I am not trying to be an obstacle to
switching to a new stat service, but I just want us to go in with eyes open.
I'd be happy to stay with CBS, but if the majority wants to switch, I will
certainly work to make it happen. Thanks for identifying this one anyway.

1. I will look into the issue of unregistered teams. I'm interested to
hear if Rick Gammons is having the same problem. If not, maybe we can
isolate the differences and determine the cause.

2. I expect that the problem in item #1 explains the problem in item #2.
Let's get that solved and then you should be able to make adjustments to the
set up.

3. This comes out of the blue for me. I recall that we started using the
acronym instead of the full name, but I'm certain I never voted to
officially change the league name. Serously....we're concerned that our
league, along with Mount Sidley will show up in a google search? And that
is a problem because.......??? If we're really concerned about search
engines pulling up our league, I say we change the league name to Uncle
Stein's Maj or League. I, for one, am not too concerned about any potential
confusion. And I'm quite confident that just like the company "Sidley
Austin", Mr. Stein doesn't have any proprietary rights in his name other
than in the context of the full law firm name. By the way, a search of
Sidley and Rotisserie, turns up Jennifer Sidley, Derek Sidley and "Uncle
Larry Bodine". It also turns up one reference to Uncle Sidley's Major
League, so I'm afraid the cat is already out of the bag. Interesting side
note - if you search Sidley Rotisserie and Blocker you get "Paris Hilton Sex
Tape Pics". I have to admit that I feel a bit like Ja y Leno. There should
be enough great material to mine from this topic to keep me occupied the
entire year.

4. I don't disagree that switching services brings with it the likelihood
of hiccups during the intial setup. But given the known limitations of CBS,
I think its worth the effort. And I'm more than happy to assist. OnRoto
will be in its second year. It is run by the guys who formerly owned
TQStats. The software is the TQStats software. As you point out, it
doesn't address our unique way of handling FAAB, but I am fairly certain
that there isn't a system that would. It does address waivers and appears
to be more transparent with respect to the processing of FAAB bids.

I'll work on the site a bit to see if I can't figure out why you and Jim are
having a problem. I'll20try to call later this afternoon or Monday.

Jeff:

Some quick observations on the website.

1. I had the same problem as Jim:=2 0I signed up but it still shows my team
as unregistered. I tried signing out and back in, but that made no
difference.

2. It does not appear that I can alter any of the commissioner pages, such
as "basic set up." It lets me change the entries, but offers no way to save
the changes.

3. One immediate favor: please change the league name. Many years ago we
changed the league name to "USML Rotisserie Baseball League." We did that
so that search engines did not list our roto league in searches for Sidley.
(Humorous sidenote: such a search probably still yields listings for Mt.
Sidley, one of the tallest mountains in Antarctica, which incredibly is part
of the "Executive Committee Range." I am not making that up).

4. The site looks pretty similar to TQ Stats in terms of set-u p, but it is
really hard to tell how well it will work until we actually start using it.
Each time we have switched services, we have had some enormous start-up
issues, and simply perusing the site does not tell you much. It is also
hard to tell how hard the initial data entry will be. I can tell you right
away that it will not handle e-bay bidding, and so we will have to make
adjustments to the FAAB bidding each week, but that was true in TQ Stats as
well. One question I would have is how much we know about the people
running it and whether they are likely to be around for awhile. One of the
benefits of sticking with the same service from year to year is that we can
simply roll-over the rosters without data entry.

I am around this weekend if you want to talk.

Jim,

The rosters haven't been entered, so if you're only seeing an empty roster,
that is why. If you can't link to your team at all, try using the code
"FVMLUK". Keep me posted as to whether that works.

Jeff

1. I note that only Rick Gammons and I have signed on to OnRoto.com to
check out the new site. Please sign on and assess the site so we can reach
a decision as soon as possible.

2. To that certain someone who reveled in the departure of JJ Putz to the
National League and waxed poetic about what that would mean for his team,
here's a little news that brought a smile to my face this morning:

Morrow prepping for starting gig

  <http://www.fanball.com/images/icons/news_icon.gif>

The News
Former reliever Brandon Morrow is prepping for a starting gig in the
Mariners' rotation for 2009, according to MLB.com.

  <http://www.fanball.com/images/icons/comments_icon.gif>

Our View
He is working on strengthening his right shoulder to handle 30-plus starts.
He ha s a great arm and will compete for a role in the rotation at the onset
of spring training, but will not likely have a solid supporting cast in
Seattle, especially following the departures of closer JJ Putz and
outfielder Raul Ibanez.

That's all.
