Andrew Bailey won the American
League Rookie of the Year award.



Normally, we would be opposed to a
reliever winning this type of award. But this is not a typical situation. The
honor is a fitting end to Bailey's unlikely journey from obscurity to one of
the AL's best closers. He was 6-3 while converting 26-of-30 saves and posting a
1.84 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP and 91/25 K/BB ratio in 83 1/3 innings. Bailey edged a
group that included Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus and Tigers pitcher Rick
Porcello.
