Wait . . . Block said Bailey was "the" Rookie of the Year. He didn't say there was some other one.

Oh, yeah, never mind.

Greetings;

     'Tis pretty wacky how Beckham won the other two ROY awards, but the BB writers voted him 5th. It won't surprise me if Becks has the most impressive career out of this year's rookie crop, but I can't argue with their choice of Andy B. having the best year!

  Rick

Andrew Bailey won the American League Rookie of the Year award.

Normally, we would be opposed to a reliever winning this type of award. But this is not a typical situation. The honor is a fitting end to Bailey's unlikely journey from obscurity to one of the AL's best closers. He was 6-3 while converting 26-of-30 saves and posting a 1.84 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP and 91/25 K/BB ratio in 83 1/3 innings. Bailey edged a group that included Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus and Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello.

Bombers note: Best FAAB $$ I spent all year. You?re welcome Rick Gammons.
