ITEM:

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Luke Hochevar will start the Kansas City Royals'
season opener March 31 against the Los Angeles Angels, manager Ned
Yost said.
Hochevar was 6-6 with a 4.81 earned run average in 18 games last year.
He missed 2? months with a right elbow strain.
Hochevar was the first player selected in the 2006 draft.
Yost also said Monday that Jeff Francis, Kyle Davies and Bruce Chen,
in order, would start the next three games in the opening series
against the Angels.

The manager added that Vin Mazzaro would be the fifth starter

WINNER: Flaming Bratusis--they nabbed two of these KC twirlers via the
rotation draft, Vinnie Mazzaro and staff ace Luke Hochevar. Second
place ties go to defending champ Berliners (Francis-$10; rotation),
AYM (Chen-$10; rotation) and Klein-Nine (Davies-$10; rotation). Now
let's see who blinks first and actually activates one of these guys.

LOSER: Block's Bombers. Opted to spend $11 of valuable auction money
on bust Jake Peavy, when the entire KC staff -- healthy, fit and
undervalued-- was available for the taking.
