ITEM:

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Will Rhymes will be the Detroit Tigers' Opening Day
second baseman, manager Jim Leyland said Tuesday.
Rhymes beat out last year's Opening Day second baseman Scott Sizemore.
Rhymes batted .304 in 54 games last season.
All-Star second baseman Carlos Guillen remains sidelined with an
injured left knee.
Leyland said Rhymes would bat second in the lineup. Sizemore was sent
to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

WINNER: The Riptorns, who secured young Will's services for a mere $1.
In fact, the Rips led the USML in buying $1 players this year, with a
grand total of four. Trendline: CAUTIOUSLY UPWARD.

LOSER: Berliners. Rhymes yet another player that Rips can dangle to
Bombers for Robinson Cano, thus lowering Berliners' bargaining
leverage.
