[USML Announce] Rotation Draft

Are you guys really serious?  With all the complaining and chest pounding about injuries and poor performances have either of you bothered to take a look at the roster of the last place team?

As long as we’re having a pity party, how about this:

Alex Rios $24 - .168 Batting Average
Alexi Casilla $13 - .190 Batting Average and 2 stolen bases.
Edwin Encarnacion $10 – No home runs – zero.
Carl Crawford $39 - .181 Batting Average and 4 stolen bases.
Nick Swisher $13 - .231 and 1 Home Run.
Austin Jackson $5 - .188 Batting Average and 3 stolen bases.
Jarrod Saltalamachia $2 - .204 Batting Average and No home runs.
Travis Snider $10 - .184 Batting Average and IN THE MINORS

And those are just the highlights.  If you’re looking for someone (ANYONE) who’s hitting anywhere near their historic numbers, you won’t find him on my team.

But that’s just the hitting.  How about the pitching, you say?

Brian Matusz  $7 – DL for at least another few weeks and maybe more.
Matt Thornton $10 – Need I say more?
Brett Cecil $8 – 6.86 ERA/1.66 Whip and IN THE MINORS
Mark Rzepczynski $3 – Not in the rotation

If you are wondering about the impact of having one less team, nowhere is that more evident that in the rotation draft, which was filled with useful players.  Here are my nominations for the best rotation draft picks based on play so far.

Round 1;  Hafner, F. Garcia, B. Boesch

Rounds 2-3:  Rauch (a full time closer!), Fuentes (7 saves!), J. Francis

Rounds 4-6:  C. Jackson, S. Santos, M. Trumbo

Rounds 7-17:  B. McCarthy, B. Colon (way better starters than my $42 waste-product-combo of Liriano/Hughes)
