I suspect he used them to heal from injury faster. Two years ago he had a great year and was injured while attempting to steal a base as a pinch runner in a meaningless game. He was out and injured for much of the following season, which changed him from Bomber keeper to freeze day cut. He has not been the same ever since that injury. And now he will have plenty of time to contemplate how he ended up where he is !

Not that Doug was going to keep him anyway, but it's nice to get these announcements out now so that no one gets Bonifacio'd next week.
My question, though, is why the PEDs? Dude has a negligible fastball and throws pitches with a spin rate of approximately 1 on a windy day. Maybe it was indeed a practical joke or a mystery (he's claiming it's the latter)
