[USML Announce] USML - 2023 Season results/payouts

That’s the great enigma of The Drive for Five.  Most of us would never even consider it.  But your mastery is nonetheless impressive.

Why limit our discussion to just my last title.  There are many we can discuss along with the ones that are soon to come.

Jeff:  I am not sure if “drive” is the right word for a team whose active hitter roster for the last two months consisted mostly of players on the IL, but I will gladly take the first pick in the 2024 rotation draft.  In 2023, I turned my 10th pick in the rotation draft into Josh Lowe: 20 HR, 83 RBI, 32 SB, and .292 avg.

A little observed aspect of the 2023 USML race.  As of 9/1, the Bombers had only 650 innings pitched.  I spent September picking up and starting every crappy starter I could acquire via FAAB in order to avoid losing my 15 ERA/ratio points and finishing last.  I ended up with 901.3 innings.  Call it what you want, but I did not want to move down in the rotation draft.

In any event, thanks for recognizing this “achievement.”  Let’s get lunch soon so we can reminisce about your last title, way back in 2019…..

Congratulation to the Nukes but there’s a bigger accomplishment to be acknowledged.  The Block’s Bombers have done it again.  Putting aside why a team would aspire to win the Drive for Five year after year after year, you’ve got to hand it to the Bombers.  The man sets his sights on something and more often than not, he achieves it.  While already the leader in completing the Drive for Five, he has now added to his all time lead.  Congratulations Mark B.

League:  A few final details from the 2023 USML season.

First, congrats to the Nukes on winning the title, and to the other three teams that finished in the money.  For the owners of those four teams, please send me your preferred form of electronic payments (preferably Zelle, but Venmo as an alternative) and your Zelle payment address.  I plan to distribute the winner shares at the end of this week.  Send to my gmail address (blockermark at gmail.com<mailto:blockermark at gmail.com>) if possible.

Second, as for the 2024 season, once the MLB schedule is released, I will propose some drafts dates.  I will send out an email with some proposed dates.

Third, if you have any suggestions for places where our rules should be clarified or tightened, let me know.  Let’s try to take care of those in the coming months.
