My hunch is that it’s ok for him to be a keeper if he fulfills the other criteria. Wouldn’t it be analogous to when the Bombers kept JD Martinez rostered after he got traded to the NL in the hopes he would resign with an AL team in the winter (which he did) …

I'm guessing he didn't actually sign with St. Louis, though, but I don't know. Is he still AL-eligible? (And does anyone even care?)
