<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">But I’d rather focus my attention on offering my congratulations to our 2017 champion, Mr. Kerber. Despite my best efforts, I believe that Mark was in first
place from pillar to post. And for those wondering why I hesitated to offer my congratulations, I confess that I was deciding whether to request a re-count. Despite appearances, it was, in fact, that close. It would have taken merely 3 more Hoosier Daddy
RBIs and a swing of .01 in ERA and we’d have been crowning another champion. But, it was not to be and it’s easy to understand why. Mark’s team was fantastic. Jose Abreu, Robinson Cano, Xander Bogaerts, Mike Moustakas, George Springer on offense and a pitching
staff led by soon to be Cy Young winner Corey Kluber is tough to top. But the real genius was drafting and/or picking up guys like Delino DeShields (22 SB), Chase Headley (12 HR/.273 BA), Alex Cobb (3.66 ERA, 12 W) and Mike Clevinger (3.11 ERA, 12 W). And
then the coup de gras was the trade for Justin Verlander (1.70 ERA, 8 W down the stretch). A great year by a particularly worthy champion. Congratulations.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
