Brad JansenParticipant
A follow-up to this story:
Klein said he has not decided whether he would appeal a suspension. “Tomorrow it’s going to happen,” Klein said Sunday before making a prank call to Jeff Winick. “Whatever my decision is going to be … I haven’t decided what it’s going to be.”
If Klein is suspended but appeals, he would be able to play in the USML while his appeal is pending. He was asked if he expects to be managing the Klein Nine as they wind down yet another miserable season.
“Yeah. That’s my hope,” Klein said.
Klein said that he was worried, but not just about his own fate.
“It’s not just about myself,” Klein said. “It’s about the Klein Nine. It’s about the Berliners. It’s about what Brad Lee thinks about me. Definitely I’m concerned.”
Brad JansenParticipantWhen in the ocean do not relieve yourself when snorkelers are present. They are a testy lot.
That is all.
Brad JansenParticipantAll: for the reasons set forth in an email I issued yesterday, I no longer am angry at Winick for talking me into trading away Chris Archer. I have moved way beyond such earthly concerns now that I have found my True Calling in Hawaii. A big mahalo to Jeffrey for causing me to rethink life’s priorities.

July 1, 2013 at 7:05 am in reply to: Notice Of Hot Wax Deal: Riptorns Make A Mutually Beneficial and Self-Satisfying Deal #3449Brad JansenParticipantNot that I ever would doubt the fairness of any deal I engage in, but I do believe that Myers alone has hit as many home runs as all the guys you traded me. He’s a masher.
Brad JansenParticipantAre those 3/5 of the Spice Girls?
Brad JansenParticipantAnd did she say she’s coming to our 3/17 draft?
Brad JansenParticipantDoug, will we be able to get our photos taken with you at the USML draft?

Brad JansenParticipantBrother Rick:
The untucked look is perfectly appropriate for fit men in their 20s and 30s. You need to watch more BRAVO.
–BradBrad JansenParticipantDoug, I would shorten the sleeves of your jacket. Otherwise, everything looks fine.

Brad JansenParticipantMaster Robbins, in reviewing your course work I noticed you acquired Fernando Rodney at a bargain price. You have earned enough extra credit to earn yourself an A in the course. I commend your ability to balance your many classes with your interesting and intellectually stimulating hobbies.
Feel free to use me as a reference.
Brad JansenParticipantSo what you’re saying is I should be ashamed taking my car to Jiffy Lube for an oil change?
Brad JansenParticipantBrad
I think you are exaggerating my role. If I served any real purpose, it was only to be a filter for all of your ideas and an occasional check on your impulsiveness. All of the work, all of the creativity, and 95% of the credit for our run goes to you (although I will take credit for recognizing during the Yankees/Mariners ALDS in 1995 that Mariano Rivera was the future of the Yankees bullpen).
Hope all is well at the USML and that you are enjoying an exciting pennant race.
Riptorns forever!
Mike
Brad JansenParticipantI think this also confirms the long-held belief that Mike was always about the winning. He was the Rahm Emmanuel of our roto campaigns. I always preferred to play for the existential moment, whether it was the thrill of consummating a deal with Winick, acquiring a cheap keeper or retaining only pitchers. When Mike co-piloted the plane, we aimed for, and usually landed on, the special air strip reserved only for the winners. On my own, I can barely ascend above the trees, but boy what a ride before I crash…..
Brad JansenParticipantNo.
Mike, see what a disaster my roto career became when you left me?
— Brad
Brad JansenParticipantThanks, Rich. This was a fun read!
