ITEM:
Getz to begin season as Royals' 2B
The Kansas City Royals announced that Chris Getz (2B, KC) will begin
the season as the starter at 2B. Getz is best known for his defense,
and last season hit only .237 with no home runs and only 18 RBI in 224
AB. However, in spite of average speed, he did manage to swipe 15
bases, thanks to a 27% SBO. He'll bat second against right-handed
pitching, so he'll probably continue to get the green light.
Getz' hold on the starting position should be considered extremely
tenuous. Mike Aviles(2B/SS/3B, KC) will open at 3B, keeping the
position warm for super-prospect Mike Moustakas, who could be called
up after the first couple of months. Once Moustakas arrives, Aviles
could shift to 2B. The playing time loser in the current situation is
Wilson Betemit (3B, KC), who could see limited action initially as the
backup to Aviles.

WINNERS: The H-Dads. Gammons' faith in Chris finally pays off,
modestly. Angries: Mike Aviles steals a little bit of playing time
until the Greek kid makes the Show. Both teams TREADING WATER.

LOSER: Nukes-- Wilson Betemit was cornerstone of a CI unit that also
consisted of limp wristed Derrek Lee and lightheaded Matt La Porta.
Can Trumbo play third base?? Trend in team's run production is
SINKING.
