Jeff;
Them's fightin' words! I'm down from 9 DL guys to 7, soon to be 6 now, and like Mr. Jansen points out,
I've got loads of space to play with and plenty of keepers as I'm barely above $200. Let the battle begin!

Brad Lee,

Are those "warm regards" or the "warm bucket of spit" that John Nance
Gardner once famously referred to? No need to answer - I think it's
self evident.

I am curious though since you seem to quote from my email. Where did I
use the terms "load" or "owe"? Again - no need to answer - I didn't.

I made a statement and an indication in interest in a trade. No
intimidation was intended, nor do I (apparently unlike you) think so
little of my competition to believe that they would be intimidated.
That fact is that the likely winner of this league is going to be the
Brats, the Nukes or the Berliners. The standings suggest, at least to
me, that the remaining teams have too much ground to make up. And
you're correct that each of the "non-contenders" have DL players just
like the Berliners. The difference is their place in the standings
versus where the Berliners sit.

But thanks, as always for your ever so valuable insight.

Jeff

Jeffrey:
I do not know what algebraic formula you used, but my best advice to
you is to retain your players that will "load" your team next year, or
so you think.
You put too much stock in the DL players on your roster. Heck, if
all of them perform as you expect, you would not need to solicit a dump
deal now, wouldya? Feliz will be a middle reliever, Santos will be
lucky to set-up, Danks likely won't pitch again this season and
Markakis is well, Markakis--modest power, modest BA (but certainly
better than that Pearce fellow you spent $16 to acquire). That said,
if you can acquire about 15 new players through your dump deals with
the Bombers and AYM you very well may not need much from your DL guys.
I also am offended how your "math" subtracts the Red Hots, Daddies
and LMC from the pennant chase. Each of those teams can follow your
lead and point to injured players who soon will lead them to the
Promised Land. And, each of those teams can point to various cheap
keeps to offer in deals, as can the Nukes and Brats.
So, don't try to restrict trade or intimidate those of us (in
particular, the K-9) who carry the goods you seek to purchase at
discounted prices. We don't "owe" you anything or anyone, no matter how
you calculate the ways to manipulate us.

Gentlemen,

I've done the math and I encourage you to do the same. Short of a
significant and unlikely turn of events, this league will be won by one
of three teams this year: Brats, Nukes or Berliners. I've sent out
feelers to those of you who aren't likely champions and the lack of
response suggests that either you disagree with my assessment, you're
biding your time or you're willing to settle for a finish somewhere
other than first without having improved your prospects for next year.

Despite the tales of woe spouted by my good buddy Brad Lee, my title
prospects remain strong. Wil Myers will be recalled soon. Nick
Markakis, John Danks, Neftali Feliz and Sergio Santos should return
shortly after the break. And sooner or later Hosmer, Youkilis and
Moore will heat up to the extent they haven't already. And yet, I sit
a mere three points behind the Brats and only 2 1/2 points behind the
Nukes.

Hosmer, Cabrera, Doumit, AJax, Santana, Plouffe, Moore, Nova and Peavy
are all sure to help a team next year. And prospects like Myers,
Machado, Lindor, Buxton and Walker will provide help for the future
and/or trade bait.

If there's no interest in a deal beyond the nonsense that Brad Lee has
been sending my way lately, then so be it. I'll see if my team has the
cojones to pull this off without any outside help and then come back
next year loaded for a repeat. But if you want to get a head start on
the 2013 Damon - you know where to find me.

That is all.

Jeff
