Following up on the request below.
No one seems to object, and the constitution seems 100% clear to me.
In addition, I'd note that my reading of the rules is consistent with the MLB waivers work (claimed players retain their existing contracts), and it's also inconsistent with the way the website works (i.e., waived players don't show up in the free agent bidding pool unless and until they clear waivers).  Finally, it's consistent with our reason for cutting off the contracts of free agents purchased after September 1, which was simply to limit prospecting after MLB rosters expanded but had no connection to retention of players already priced via the draft.

Subject: Roster Correction

Sale and Paxton should not have been changed to FA.
Article VIII, Section 5 of the Constitution provides that "free agents" acquired after September 1 are not eligible for retention.  The provision applies only to "free agents."

The salary of a free agent is his acquisition price. Except as set forth in the next sentence, the contract status of a free agent acquired on or before the last weekly transaction deadline before September 1 is that of a first-year player. The contract status of a free agent who, during the course of the season, was in the final year of his contract, is that of a player in the final year of his contract. The contract status of a free agent acquired after the last weekly transaction deadline before September 1 is that of a player in the final year of his contract.

A rostered player who is waived does not become a "free agent" unless and until he passes through waivers unclaimed.  Article XIV, Section 1 of the Constitution provides:

Major league players (including those on a major league disabled list) who are not on any League team’s Active Roster or Reserve Roster at the conclusion of the Rotation Draft become free agents. During the course of the season, the pool of free agents may also include minor league players not on any League team’s Reserve Roster who are promoted to an active American League major league roster; players traded into the American League from the National League; free agents who sign with an American League team; and waived players who are not claimed. From the conclusion of the Rotation Draft and continuing through the season until the last weekly transaction deadline during the season, such free agents may be signed in accordance with this Article XIV. A minor league player will not join the pool of free agents until he is promoted to an active American League major league roster and may not be acquired as a free agent prior to such promotion.

The salary and contract status of a player acquired through waivers remains whatever it was when the player was waived.  Article VIII, Section 4 of the Constitution provides:

The salary of a player claimed on waivers shall be his previous salary. The contract status of such player shall also remain unchanged.

So, please reset the contracts for Sale and Paxton.
Thanks.
